Researcher interests: Antiviral drugs: synthesis, screening for antiviral activity and elucidation of mechanisms of action. Isolation and characterization of drug-resistant virus mutants. Molecular events in the growth of herpes and and pox viruses. Development of attenuated strains of vaccinia virus for immunization against smallpox. Characterization of subpopulations of the Lister strain of vaccinia virus in regard to their pathogenicity and immunogenicity.
