Ultra-Sensitive Biomarker Detection Method

A highly sensitive method for detection of biomarkers, based on formation of nanoparticle-biomarker hybrids (dimers) in the presence of a selected analyte. The project aims to develop a simple and affordable detection modality for these dimers based on nanopores (Fig. 1)- nanometer size holes in a thin membrane. The nanoparticle-biomarker dimers are translocated trough nanopores, inducing a signature signal that is specific for a given dimer-biomarker conjugate. The method will allow quantifying the biomarkers/analyte concentrations in a large dynamic range with ultra-high sensitivity and specificity.
