Application
In-vitro fertilization (IVF) is becoming widespread worldwide, and in the developed world, up to 5% of children have been born following IVF procedures. Up to 17% of women have trouble conceiving; infertility rate increases to more than 35% for women ages over 35.
A reliable method for early identifying of the oocytes and preimplantation embryos with the highest developmental competence is required to ensure healthy newborns
Our Innovation
MechanoPLate is a culturing device for oocytes / embryos that enables in situ continuous visualization and mechanical characterization during culture. The information acquired is used for evaluating the developmental quality of oocytes and embryos:
- Mechanoplate, compatible with time-lapse incubators. It is designed for culturing, imaging and mechanical profiling of a single oocyte or embryo, providing time-lapse imaging (TLI) and mechanical profiling in one device
- Relevant to both oocytes and embryo assessment
Advantages
- Undisturbed embryo culture
- Continuous record of embryo development for quality control and standardization of morphologic assessment
The Opportunity
- Cultivation of fertilized oocytes and the subsequent selection of embryos are central components in assisted reproductive market
- Additional markets relevant for this technology are Animal Breeding Market. Developmental Biology Research and Toxicity Testing Markets
