Event brings together top experts in industry and academia
December 11, 2018 – Jerusalem: The first ever commercial conference in Israel dedicated to the future of quantum technology is taking place today in Jerusalem. The event, on December 11, 2018 at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Edmond Safra Campus, brings together top experts and leaders from industry, VCs, and academia to look at how innovations in the emerging field of quantum technology will impact real world applications.
“Quantum Science will be disruptive to multiple industries, products and services in the foreseeable future,” said Dr. Yaron Daniely, President & CEO of Yissum, the Hebrew University Technology Transfer Company. “This conference is a unique opportunity to sit around the table with industry partners and explore how innovations coming out of our University can play a pivotal role in moving this field forward.”
The Future of Quantum Technology Conference is sponsored and organized by the Jerusalem Development Authority (JDA), The Ministry of Jerusalem and Heritage, Yissum – The Technology Transfer Company of The Hebrew University and The Quantum Science Information Center at Hebrew University.
Yanir Farber, CEO of QuantLR, a Jerusalem startup co-founded by Hebrew University professor Hagai Eisenberg that is focused on quantum encryption, explained that quantum computing is both an opportunity and a threat to current systems. “Quantum computers which are being developed by big companies such as Google, Microsoft, IBM, Intel and by various governments, will dramatically change how quickly and broadly we can solve problems. At the same time, they pose a serious threat to all the currently used encryption algorithms as they can crack them efficiently. QuantLR develops quantum encryption technology which is considered the only ‘ultimately secured’ solution for data encryption in the post quantum computers era that will be essential for everyone from banks to health providers, online commerce, defense and critical infrastructure.”
Itzik Ozer, head of the JDA’s business development, said: “The Jerusalem Development Authority and The Ministry of Jerusalem and Heritage are investing great efforts to realize the potential of innovation and entrepreneurship based on the groundbreaking academic research conducted at The Hebrew University and other academic institutions in the city. We are proud to be partners and to lead, together with the University and Yissum, an event of such quality and uniqueness in Jerusalem. This Conference will help us understand the significant opportunities that exist in this dynamic field.”
Among the speakers are Prof. Dorit Aharanov, Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Hebrew University, Prof. John Martinis, Head of Google’s Quantum Hardware Group, Yanir Farber, CEO of QuantLR, Prof. Alex Retzker, NVision Co-Founder and a researcher at the Racah Institute of Physics at the Hebrew University, Rona Segev, Managing Partner, TLV Partners, Itamar Sivan, CEO, Quantum Machines, Prof. Nadav Katz, Director of the Quantum Information Science Center, and researcher at the Hebrew University’s Racah Institute of Physics, along with other industry leaders.
