Abstract

A state-of-the-art, cost-effective wireless sensor network system for precision agriculture that enables continuous spatial-temporal monitoring of crops and their environment.

Background

Precision agriculture lacks affordable real-time monitoring systems to accurately measure plant physiological responses to environmental conditions, which are key for optimal crop productivity. Understanding the dynamic interplay between plants and their environment over space and time is crucial but remains a major challenge.

Our Innovation

State in one sentence what is the invention. (Method, new target, new approach, new software)

  • List in bullet points 3-5 major advantages in terms of technological and functional excellence; if possible, in comparison to existing practice

An innovative wireless sensor network (WSN) system that efficiently and accurately monitors plant physiological responses within agricultural settings through the integration of cost-effective IoT sensors.

  • Economical: Integration of numerous low-cost IoT sensors
  • Real-time monitoring: Rapid data processing and transmission
  • Energy efficient: Superior battery life and energy utilization
  • High precision data: Accurate spatial-temporal environmental and plant data

This system can optimize resource use, minimize waste, boost yields, enable sustainable practices, and improve environmental preservation through precise data for pesticide/nutrient application.

Technology

Briefly describe the approach and the method proposed. Integrate images, if relevant

The WSN comprises an array of IoT sensors implemented in agricultural fields to simultaneously monitor environmental parameters (temperature, humidity, light, pressure, etc.) and plant physiological responses. Data is processed through advanced algorithms to provide growers with real-time analytics on plant growth, transpiration, and leaf area index for informed decision-making.
