General goal of the “tomato projects” within the framework of the Genome Editing Center is to improve nutritional value, taste and aroma in tomato. The overall goal of my project in the Center is to increase the level of valuable carotenoids in tomato fruit. Specific objectives are: 1) Introduce mutations in carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase (CCD) genes to reduce carotenoid degradation in fruits.
